課程概述 |
中文：
本課程原本屬於西洋史學史的範疇，然而由於討論取向的革新及授課內容的斷代限制，所以課程名稱命名為「傳統西方歷史意識」。
歷史意識(historical conciousness)的含意比一般所謂的史學思想更為寬廣，指「人人都有變遷的意識及其表述的能力」。在此前提之下，本課程除了重視歷史知識論、強調”concepts of human being”與”concepts of history”的關係，同時也扣緊現實意識和生命意識。本課程討論的對象包含非主流和菁英的歷史意識和歷史文化。時間上從遠古時代的「岩畫」和「神話思維」至十八世紀「啟蒙運動的時代」。
英文：
“History of historical consciousness,” as a revision of “history of historiography,” is grounded in the theory that everyone owns his/her sense of change and the ability to represent the past. Its approach to the study emphasizes the relations among historical consciousness, concept of human being and presentism represented through oral, visual or written texts by both elite and non-elite.
In this one-semester course, we examine the development of western historical consciousness from the ancient times when cave-paintings were made to the age of Enlightenment and the rise of German historicism.
